Search and Seizure? Search and seizure in the Constitution is the following "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." This is written as the 4th Amendment in the Constitution. This right mostly involves Privacy in it. It protects us from any "Unreasonable" search police might have in mind. The down side is that the 4th Amendment does permit police to search your boat, car, home, office, barn, etc. if they suspect that their is enough evidence that you have committed a crime or if a judge gives out a warrant. A warrant is a kind of permission form a judge that allows a police man to search your property, in which they think you might of done something wrong.

     At school, "Search and Seizure" is probably used in some schools but not all. Search and Seizure is sometimes used when kids at school look like they hide something or if another kid accuses them for having something they shouldn't´t have at school. The principle or staff might want the boy to empty their backpack or where ever it looks like he or she is hiding something. It is not always fair but the principles only do it for the other kids safety. Wouldn´t you like to be in a safe environment? Search and Seizure may have some bad points but it does have some good points. You may have experienced this at school but you think it won´t happen again...WRONG!!!Many kids think they can get away with things but sooner or later they will eventually get caught. If any of the teachers see you with something you shouldn't´t have they check to see if you have it and take it away and tell the principle. Others teachers just take from you and give it you at the end of the period or the end of the day...either way they take it away and there might be a chance you will not have it back until your parents pick it up. Search and seizure is good because it keeps you away from danger. The bad thing about Search and Seizure is that if they accuse you from doing something that is just a suspicion then people might think you are scary, trouble maker, bad person, they might be bias to you. Knowing you did no wrong they might blame you and you might be embarrassed or want to confront that person in a bad way for making such a lie!

     In some schools (mine) we have an no option on what backpack to bring to school. The rule is, "You can bring a transparent or see-through backpack only...with the exceptions of a folder. The only way we can bring backpacks is if you are in a sport and you need it to carry your stuff around. It is not fair to us children who are not in sports and have to carry our stuff by hand. You can use a transparent backpack but the problem is that in the summer the plastic can get really hot and get might burn ourselves!A lot of girls need their privacy and the school doesn´t see that. I know they are trying to keep us from harm and by having non-transparent backpacks they can easily see if we have any weapons but it is not fair to the kids that are at school only to learn and not do stupid things! The School limits our rights by not giving us any privacy we kids desire to have! Don´t you like privacy? Do you think principles should make us wear transparent backpacks? Most of the kids say NO!!!! (on the question about liking transparent backpacks.....) We have no option!
